Contributions to Simmons for Senate are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal
income tax purposes. The federal election cycle in Connecticut consist of three elections: the
party convention election, primary election and general election. Federal law limits
contributions from individuals to $2,400 per person per election or a total amount of $7,200
per election cycle. Federal multicandidate PACs may contribute up to $5,000 for each election
or a total amount of $15,000 per election cycle. Contributions from corporations, labor unions,
federal-government contractors, national banks, and foreign nationals without permanent
residency status are prohibited. Federal law requires Simmons for Senate to report the name,
address, occupation, and employer of any contributor who gives more than $200 in an election
cycle.
