Greetings, Parents!

My name is Miss Lambert, and Im looking forward to having your child in my 8

parents and teachers, so I would like to invite you to contact me any time to share any
concerns with me. You can contact me at alambert@york.k12.sc.us . I have listed some
useful information about our classroom below:

I want you to feel connected to what your child is doing in his/ her science class this year.
To this end, I have set up several resources that can be used to help you stay in the loop.

Iluvpokemon5 as a username doesnt give me any idea who posted it! Also, choose
a password that you can easily remember!

What to Expect

Here are some basics to expect in my class:

1. Weekly Work: Students have a homework assignment every week. It is passed
out on Monday and due on Friday. These are posted on my weebly AND handed out
in class.

2. Composition Notebook: Your student must keep a composition notebook in
science. He/she will need a 100 sheet (200 page) composition notebook for all of
the labs and activities we will do. These will be checked regularly for a grade.

3. Bell Work: Students have an opening activity EVERY day during the first 5-10
minutes of class. These will be checked regularly for a grade.

4. Absent Work: I keep an absent area in my classroom, which includes copies of
missed work and a calendar with the days assignments written on it so students
always know what they missed.
Volunteers
We always welcome parent volunteers in our classroom. If you have an applicable talent or
knowledge of science that you would like to share I would love to have you in my classroom
as a guest speaker! There is always so much to do and any help with labs, donation of
supplies and one on one or small group work with struggling students is always appreciated.
Thank you for your help and support. I know it will be a fun and successful year for the
students. I look forward to working with you this year. Please check my wiki often for
updates and great resources that have been set up to help you feel confident that your
student is getting the most out of his or her 8
th
grade science class!

Donations
If you are able to, our class can always use donations of such items as:
Glue sticks and glue Bottles Notecards Composition Notebooks
Loose leaf paper Rubber Bands Two pocket, three prong folders
Tissues Paper Clips Pencils

Best regards,
Miss Lambert
