HartsfieldJackson Atlanta International Airport is ranked as the busiest airport of the


world in the year 2012 and that too both in terms of passengers (about 95 million passengers)
and number of flights. Also referred as Atlanta Airport, it has 207 domestic and international
gates. This airport has seen some big improvements in the past ten years. This comprises of a
fifth runaway and an elevated SkyTrain. Atlanta Airport handles huge amounts of cargo and
it is named after William B. Hartsfield and Maynard Jackson.
This Airport flourished rapidly as it got attention from Delta Air Lines and Eastern
Air Lines. Atlanta Airport is spread across around 5.7 million square feet and offers
international service to almost all the parts of the world like America, Asia, Europe and
Africa and ranks seventh as an international gateway to the USA. Most of the Atlanta Airport
is located in areas like Fulton nod Clayton counties. The airport could be reached by
Metropolitan Transit Authority rail service station as well as by buses, rental cars and
shuttles.
Atlanta Airport has two pet areas and houses above two hundred concession outlets.
These cover the various retail, food and beverage and staffed service outlets. Multiple aircraft
can take off and land at the same time due to the parallel runaways. The domestic terminal of
Atlanta Airport is served by MARTAs Red/Gold rail line. The longest runaways of this
airport are the inside ones of which one is 11,889 feet and the other is 10,000 feet long. The
rest of the three runways are 9,000 feet long. This airport is a major hub for travel across the
South-eastern United States.
