PWM
Heres a great distortion/fuzz circuit from Tim Escobedo (http://www.geocities.com/tpe123/
folkurban/fuzz/snippets.html). It uses a couple of gates from a 40106 Schmitt trigger chip to
generate a unique distortion sound. The 386 chip is used to boost the guitar signal to a high
enough level to feed the 40106. In fact the 386 part of the circuit could stand on its own as a dirty/
overdrive booster or distortion.

Mods!
For more gain from the 386 section, add a 4.7 uf electrolytic from pin 1 to ground.
Connect the positive side to pin 1 and the negative side to ground.
Try both the LM386 and the NJM/JRC386 chips to see which sounds better to
you.
Voltage Sag! Audio circuits based on this chip can get squishy and compressed
when you lower the voltage. Try turning down the voltage a bit on the i/o breakout
box to experiment.
