The Indian Maritime University, a pioneering, young and fresh University, encompassing well known legacy institutions pan
India, was established through an Act of Parliament on 14
th
November, 2008 as a Central University. IMUs mission is to
play a key role in Indias growth story through the development of the Indian Maritime and related Logistics and Supply
Chain, and Infrastructure sectors.

The primary objective of the IMU is to promote advanced knowledge through facilitation of maritime studies, training,
research and extension work with focus on emerging areas like oceanography, maritime history, maritime laws, maritime
security, transportation, environmental studies and other related fields, and to achieve excellence in these.

IMU will do this by providing institutional and research facilities to promote the philosophy of interdisciplinary work,
innovations in the teaching-learning process and policy advocacy.

(ii) Must have cleared National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC, CSIR or similar
test accredited by UGC.
Desirable: Ph. D. degree in related subject. (However, candidates having Ph. D.
degree are exempted from NET vide UGC D.O. No. F.1-1/2002 (PS)
Exemp. Effective from June 14,2006).
Note : NET qualification is exempted wherever no such test was conducted by UGC

Note:

(i) Career advancement is subject to the rules and regulations of IMU which may vary from time to time.
(ii) Candidate may indicate the preference for the place of initial posting. However, the right of posting depends on the
requirement of the IMU
(iii) Faculty are transferable anywhere in India in existing IMU campuses or new campuses that may be set up in future.



GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

01 A relaxation of 5% in marks will be provided at the Master's level for the SC/ST candidates for the
purpose of eligibility.
02 Age relaxation in upper age limit for SC/ST 05 years, OBC 03 years and
Person with Disabilities --- General 05 years, SC/ST 10 years, OBC 08 years will be
applicable.
03 Candidates claiming benefits under the Person with Disabilities, SC, ST, OBC category should
enclose medical/caste/non-creamy layer certificate, as applicable, from authorized Government
authority, without which the application will be treated as 'general (unreserved)'.
04 A relaxation of 5% in marks will be provided at the Masters Level for the Ph.D. degree holders,
who have passed their Master's degree prior to 19
th
September, 1991.
05 Relevant grade which is regarded as equivalent of 55% wherever the grading systems is followed
by a recognized university shall also be considered eligible.
06 Internal candidates may also apply.
07 IMU reserves the rights to consider candidates by invitation.
08 IMU reserves the right to relax any of the qualifications, experience, etc, in deserving cases in
respect of any post.
09 The time taken by candidates to acquire M.Phil and/or Ph.D. shall not be considered as research
experience.
10 IMU may offer a lower post to a candidate even though he has applied for a higher post.
11 The prescribed qualification and experience are minimum requirements and the fact that a
candidate possesses the same will not entitle him/her for being called for interview or being
selected. IMU reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview on
the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed, as decided by the
Screening Committee/s. Call letters for attending interview will be sent only to the short-listed
candidates.
12 Selection will be made on the basis of candidates previous record and their performance in the
interview. The IMU may utilize seminar/colloquium and/or any other mode as a method of
selection.
13 Age, Experience and Qualification will be reckoned as on 15.10.2012.
14 Application should be in the prescribed format. Candidates should enclose self-attested copies of
certificates, in support of age, community, educational qualification, experience etc.
15 Candidates already in service must submit their applications (hard copy/print out) through proper
channel. The applicant may submit Advance Copy of the application, with all enclosures.
However, No Objection Certificate, if required, from the present employer should be produced at
the time of interview.
16 The position and discipline applied for shall be superscribed on the envelope. In case of applying
for more than one post, separate applications have to be submitted.
17 Incomplete and late applications will not be considered. IMU will not be responsible for any postal
delay.
