Kindred, a film by a lot of people, is set to hit the short film festival circuit from mid-August.
Sydney, Australia, August 18, 2014 -- Kindred, the 9-minute indie short - and the first sci-fi to star
indigenous Australians - is set to hit the short film festival circuit from mid-August.
The film follows a cynical young Indigenous man (Damion Hunter and his family, who are
a!ducted !y aliens. "eading them on a !reathta#ing esca$e, he discovers the aliens% origins,
shattering his worldview forever.
&n 'uly (), a $rivate screening of Kindred too# $lace at *hauvel *inema in +addington, ,ydney for
its crowdsourced funders, cast, crew and friends.
Kindred was written !y +roducer, -./ 0 +ost ,u$ervising Director 'osh 1ryer, the founder of 2ed
*entre .ilms. It was $roduced in association with Altaire +roductions3 the main e4ecutive $roducer
was 5arie ,laight3 it was co-$roduced !y Annie Kinnane3 and the live action was directed !y &scar
6icholson.
Kindred%s !udget was raised !y a com!ination of crowdsourcing and investments. 7hile the all-
im$ortant -./ were sourced from all over the world - as far afield as 1ra8il, 9,A, Italy and India -
and $ut together first !y Digital +ulse then ta#en to the finish line !y leading ,ydney -./ house
Hec#ler who also hosted the online edit.
A #ey alien effect was added !y :,$ace, .,5 did the grade, and the sound and music was made
