Abstract: According to the method of getting the 10gs images and their characteristics , the paper improves the eight-direction chain
code contour tracking techno10gy. Present an a1gorithm which beginning from the center point of the image , scan down vertically to
get the start point of the contour tracking , and find the target outline automatically with a constraint condition. The experimenta1 results prove that the algorithm works efficiently. Ba sed on the chain code sequence of the target outline and the coordinate information
of the boundary points , it proposes a method to determine the center point of the target outline , the shortest diameter and other 10g
