Please consider my recommendation for Stephanie Mahoney. Ms. Mahoney worked as an intern in our
building this past semester for a 2
nd
/3
rd
grade combination class. She had a strong mentor teacher and
has shown through her application, she has learned a lot about effective teaching.

Ms. Mahoney has also been finishing out the year for her mentor teacher who is out on maternity leave
and it was a seamless transition for the students whom she had already been working with. She
maintains high expectations for students while creating a balance by creating a nurturing environment
and approach. She has maintained all aspects of teaching including, lesson plans, instruction,
assessment and grading as if it were her own classroom. I also have been impressed at her ability to
keep the students focused and engaged as the school year is winding down, when it generally more
difficult to keep students on task.

We began an after school reading intervention group for struggling readers and she has also taken on
the task of tutoring one of these groups. In addition to the characteristics already mentioned, Stephanie
also has a wonderful demeanor and works well with other teachers and staff. She is willing to
contribute to discussions and is comfortable asking for input. I believe she will continue to develop
into a strong and effective teacher. It is without reservation I recommend Stephanie Mahoney as a
teacher to any district.
