Can You Buy It?
Have you ever noticed all unnecessary things we buy? Since the proliferation of
capitalism, society started compulsively to buy all kind of things. People buy lots of
products just for having more things and it does not matter if they are necessary or not.
In fact, capitalism has affected peoples lives in many ways.
Todays people feel the need of having the newest products in the market.
People usually think that old things are useless and new ones are the best. However,
products are new only for a few months before the next model is presented to the
public. In addition, society pushes people to buy the newest products in order to fit in a
social group. People that can not buy the newest products might feel depressed,
distressed, and anxious.
People always want more things than what they need. Even though one product
is in good condition, people want to change it for other with a different size, color, or
style. For example, some woman may have so many shoes that some of their shoes are
never used. Rich persons usually pay millionaire sums in order to buy extravagant
objects. One example is that Michael Jackson who aid huge amounts of money for its
collection of Egyptian mummies.
Lack of money is not an excuse to stop buying things. Many people are addicted
to credit cards which allow users to buy and pay later. People usually overdraw their
credit card to get more products without having the money. When people do not have
money, they sometimes pawn their goods in order to get money and keep buying. In
extreme cases people get broke and lose their houses.
Sometimes, people think that life consists on buying unnecessary things.
Peoples lives is buying and paying in an endless cycle. It does not matter how many
things you have, it is never enough. In conclusion, capitalism has changed the thinking
in modern life.
