Canadian-AboriginalWho am I?
Outcomes addressed:
Determine the complexity of identity for people in general, and for Aboriginal people in particular.
Analyze the effects of external labels on Aboriginal peoples.

Instructions:
Using the Venn Diagram on the following page, fill in the circles by answering the following questions, what does it mean
to be Canadian? and what does it mean to be Aboriginal? Begin by writing down things that you identify with. For
example, I might write universal health care under Canadian and Metis under Aboriginal. There also may be things
that you feel would fit under both categories, and thats perfectly okay. Write these characteristics in the space where
the circles connect. For example, I might write Treaties. Once you have recorded everything you can think of on your
own, share your response with a partner or the people at your table. Write down each others responses in another pen
color. We will then share as a class. See my example below:
