2. Be nice 2. Hall pass =sing a song to the class
3. Do what you are supposed to 3. Phones =distractions will be removed to ensure learning
Grading policy
Standard Based Grading (SBG) system is used. This means there will be formative and summative
assessments throughout the course. Formative assessments help the teacher / student / parent see what
progress is being made during the learning. Formative assessments will be checked and scores recorded
based on effort. Formative assessments will count for 50% of the quarter grade. These grades will be
listed numerically on Powerschool and will be a holistic look at the formative progress for the week.
Summative assessments measure what has been learned. Summative assessments will be measured on a
5 point scale and students may be reassessed on individual content statements for up to 2 weeks after the
original score has been posted on Powerschool. Summative assessments will count for 50% of the
quarter grade. These grades will be listed alphabetically on Powerschool.
The final exam will count as 20% of the course grade
Summative Reassessments
Summative scores will be recorded on a 5 point scale on Powerschool.
A or 5 =mastery achievement;
B or 4 =accelerated achievement
C or 3 =proficient achievement;
D or 2 =basic achievement;
F or 1 =insufficient achievement.

Summative levels can be changed upon a student providing material to show mastery at a higher level
than the original assessment. For example, if a student receives a D on a summative assessment, they
have the opportunity to show that they understand the material in a different format. Should this
alternate assessment prove they have a higher level of mastery than originally recorded, the grade will
be changed to reflect the students level of understanding on Powerschool
Further explanation of the grading system and reassessment process can be found on the classroom
website.
