and ideas in film.
Learning Intentions
Be able to identify verbal and visual techniques used in selected scenes from a film
and recognise their purpose and effects.
To understand the term ideas and be able to describe/explain how films express
ideas about issues and make us think about important ideas.
To identify and show understanding of how character and ideas are developed in a
film and discuss them orally and in writing.
To learn how to organise and develop personal response both orally and in a written
response to text.
To understand character and speak confidently as a character in a text.
Success Criteria
Identify film techniques which the director has used to create and develop a character.
Identify important changes in a character and provide examples.
Speak with confidence as a character showing understanding of ideas presented through that
character in the studied film
Identify the main ideas in a text and show this understanding in a personal response
Write a structured and organised response which has developed ideas with supporting
evidence

Social Studies
People respond in different ways individually and collectively to challenges
Groups need to work together to respond to challenges for the benefit of the community
People face a range of unique challenges and take a variety of action in response to them.
