The constitution and change

Thesis Statement:

The constitution is able to be altered through amendments to the constitution and
also by such cases held by judicial review. Amendments to the constitution are made by
Congress or State legislature and judicial review is used by the Judicial branch.

Important notes:

- Congress and state legislature can ask for a new amendment
- All branches have to approve of it, and judicial review comes in here too
- Judicial review was made possible by Madison vs. Marbury case

Body Paragraph one:

-Thesis/topic sentence:

Amendments to the constitution can be made by Congress and have been made
in such cases such as Miranda v. Arizona in which an amendment was made to the
constitution in order to protect the rights of people who had committed crimes.

- Miranda v. Arizona.. Never told their rights and that they didnt have to self incriminate.

- Unconstitutional to the 5th and 6th amendments.

- An amendment to the constitution added that suspected criminals must be read their
rights during the time of their arrest.

-Thesis/topic sentence:

The constitution has changed dramatically in order to fit society's needs in a
government through judicial review as well in such cases as the Watergate scandal in
which the Supreme Court ordered for President Nixon to turn over certain pieces of
evidence against him.

- It is rumored that Reagan would not have needed to resign if it werent for the
Supreme Courts ruling

- Supreme court checked the executive branch by asking him to give over the files.

- made in order to please people in society and to keep a strong democratic government

- Allowed for not one branch to have too much power.

- Proof that different branches of government can put one another on trial and call out
their illegal actions.

Conclusion:

The constitution is able to be altered through amendments to the constitution and
also by such cases held by judicial review. Amendments to the constitution are made by
