Welcome to Rolling Hills Physical Education!!!

We are looking forward to a fantastic year! During the year we will be encouraging the students to
develop an interest in some sports that are not necessarily high profile, in hopes that they will
continue to be physically active throughout their lives. After all, lifelong fitness is what its all about.
Students can energize their lives by establishing healthy and fit lifestyles. Personal best is the goal!

Miss Tien will be teaching PE on alternating weeks. On non-PE weeks, the students will be learning
Literature with Ms. Thompson.

PE DRESS CODE: All students are required to have the official Rolling Hills PE shirt, shorts, and
athletic shoes. All shirts and shorts must have LAST NAME and FIRST INITIAL on the designated
block of the clothing. Clothing cannot have any graffiti on it or the student will be required to buy a
new set. Athletic shoes must be tied snugly with good foot support. NO SHOES WITHOUT LACES.
Sweatpants and sweatshirts are optional and can be purchased through the PE Department. PE
clothes must be worn appropriately, no sagging of PE shorts of sweatpants. Students MAY NOT
wear their uniform after the PE periods. They MUST change back into their regular clothes;
however, students may show up to school wearing their PE uniform.

GRADING: The PE grade is weighted according to the following system:
60% Participation/Attitude (includes suiting up)
40% Progress towards goals (includes mile times, Presidential Fitness skills)
Students will be given 6 points every PE day,
Reasons points might be subtracted:
3 points will be taken away for not suiting out (not wearing a uniform)
1.5 points will be taken away for a partial uniform.
1 point will be taken away for tardiness.
Points can also be taken away for lack of participation or attitude.

EXCUSES/MEDICAL/ILLNESS: If you are not going to participate, you need to bring a note
from your doctor or parent PRIOR to or ON the day of participation. Notes must:
Specify what a student can and cannot do on that day, and if the student should or should not
dress out for class.
Students will be given an alternative assignment if excused from physical activity.
For an extended illness (3 or more days), a doctors note is required to resume participation.
Students who have missed fitness assessments may be asked to make-up or retest the
missed assessment. It is up to the discretion of the teacher.

Thank you,
Miss Tien
