DEACONS DEPARTMENT
FOCUS
THE FOCUS OF THE JUNE VALLEY SEVENTH-DAY
ADVENTIST CHURCH IS THE SPREADING OF THE
GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST AND THE SPIRITUAL
NURTURE OF ITS CHURCH MEMBERS.
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED
1. Must be a practicing baptized member of the
June Valley SDA Church

2. Must be ordained as a Deacon

3. A comprehensive background about the SDA
Church organization

4. A strong commitment to the nurture and
salvation of the June Valley SDA church
members.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
The work of the Deacon involves a wide range of
services for the church, including:

1. Assistance at services and meetings Deacons
are usually responsible for welcoming members
and visitors as they enter the church and for
assisting them, where necessary, to find seats.

2. They also cooperate with the pastor and elders
for smooth functioning of all meetings.




3. Visitation of members In many churches
visitation is arranged by distributing
membership by district and assigning deacons to
each districts with the expectation that he will
visit each home at least once a quarter.

4. Preparation for baptismal service Deacons
make necessary preparation for baptismal
service



5. Assist in Communion Service At the
celebration of the ordinance of the foot
washing, the deacons and the deaconesses
provide everything needed for the service, such
as towels, dishes, water and bucket. After the
service they see that the utensils and linen are
washed and properly stored.
