Ques. Write a short note on TUSU harvest festival.

TUSU is a crop festival, most important festivals of the

Kudumi community (kudumi/Kudmi / Kurmi is a settled
agriculturist community of eastern India), held during
the winter in the last day of Poush month. It is also for
the unmarried girls. Girls decorate a wooden/ bamboo
frame with colored paper and then gift it to the nearby
hilly river. Soaked in religious and cultural fervour,
young girls carry temple-like structures, Tusu, in
traditional attires, which are submerged in water after
prayers are offered. The fortnight-long Tusu festival
starts on January 15 every year.
Locals were seen dancing to drumbeats on the streets
and many were seen depicting mythological
characters. People expressed their happiness and
sought gods blessings for prosperity.
Pitha, or pancake, is an integral part of the festival and
every family prepares its own delicacy. Tusu is similar
to harvest festivals in other parts of the country, and is
celebrated by preparing food from newly harvested
crops.
