Ok here is how I got my MFC-295CN scanner working. I downloaded the drivers, rere!

"isites,
#rscan$ ect and installed "sing so%tware centre. I also installed &sane. 'canning did not work with
&sane and simle scan. 'o I edited the r"les.
Oen (li#("dev(r"les.d()*-li#sane.r"les %ile.
+dd the %ollowing two lines to the end o% the device list. ,-e%ore the line ./ 0he %ollowing r"le
will disa#le ....12
/ -rother scanners
+003'4id5endor677.*)%9., 8N54li#sane9matched67.yes.
3estart the O'.
-"t to edit it, yo" have to "se terminal. like this2 gks"do gedit (li#("dev(r"les.d()*-li#sane.r"les
0his is how to get yo"r MFC-295CN scanner to work.
think this is a case o% not #eing st"ck "ntil yo" ask %or hel. 'oon a%ter osting this I decided to
check the i addesses o% the rinter and scanner. '"re eno"gh I:d entered a di%%erent i %or each one
somehow. 'ince the rinter worked and the scanner didn:t, I made the ass"mtion that the scanner
had the wrong one.
0o correct this I had to enter the %ollowing line at the command romt2
#rsanecon%ig) -r 'C+NN83
0his command removed the scanner with the incorrect i address. 0hen I simly added it #ack
again, making s"re the i address was right this time.
#rsanecon%ig) -a name7'C+NN83 model7MFC-;<25=> i7?92.?@<.$.$
Note2 Ao" sho"ld ro#a#ly set the scanner " to a %iBed i in the ro"ter, otherwise yo" may have
ro#lems later on when it gets assigned a di%%erent i when the ro"ter is reset.
