California Alternate Rates for Energy (C.A.R.E.)

CARE does not have a unique address, telephone number, or certain hours. You sign up for the
CARE program through your electric company, for example SDG&E.

Your eligibility depends on your total household income.
You may also be eligible for CARE if you receive assistance from other public assistance
programs, such as but not limited too, WIC, Medical/medicaid, CalFresh, and/or Healthy
Families.

CARE is funded through a rate surcharge paid by all other utility customers.

CARE is available all throughout California, you can apply online or you can apply by calling
your electricity company.

CARE provides low income families with anywhere from 20-35% off of their gas and electric
bills.
