Plylng models can be dangerous lf proper safety precautlons are not followed. Here are a few crltlcal safety
suggestlons to keep you and others safe.
Are you experienced1
Plylng models ls not an lntultlve process. Most accompllshed model pllots were taught by another modeler. we encourage
you to seek help durlng your early nlght experlences and lf requlred, durlng the bulldlng and gear lnstallatlon process. Unllke
some other hobbles, model alrplane nylng has evolved lnto a soclal event. There are approxlmately 2,500 model alrcraft clubs

Where to IIy
Havlng enough land for your own model alrport ls rare. Most of us ny at club admlnlstrated model elds. The local ball eld

our Hltec APHSS system uses a communlcatlon protocol that llnks and blnds the Optlma recelver to your Aurora transmltter. Once thelr
|D ls set, no other transmltter can lnterfere wlth your recelver durlng lts operatlon. |n the case of multlple model memory transmltters llke
the Aurora, you can blnd or llnk as many Optlma recelvers to your transmltter as necessary.
NormaI Mode
- |n thls mode the recelver/transmltter uses the frequencles whlch selected at the tlme lt was lnltlally set-up.
- After the lnltlal set-up, the everyday start-up ls qulcker ln the Normal Mode. |n 90% of cases the Normal Mode ls preferred by users.
- |n the Normal mode, lf the transmltter or recelver loses power, then power ls restored, the system wlll re-llnk and functlon normally.
- The factory default setup ls Normal Mode.
Scan Mode
- |n ScanMode the recelver/transmltter wlll scan all avallable channels every tlme you turn lt on. |t wlll then choose the cleanest
frequencles to use. ScanMode ls preferable to use when nylng ln a crowded 2.4GHz envlronment.
- whlle ln ScanMode lf the transmltter loses power lt wlll not reblnd to the recelver, lf the recelver loses power lt wlll take longer
to re-blnd than when ln Normal Mode.
- |n all cases the ScanMode blndlng functlon wlll take longer than ln Normal Mode when you boot-up the system.

"Normal or ScanMode.
There are avallable 2.4GHz channels that can be used by your Hltec APHSS 2.4 system. The followlng wlll explaln
how Normal Mode and ScanMode use the channels.
IAIL-SAI and HoId Mode
|f you use the PA|L-SAPL functlon, and set lt up properly, should the recelver slgnal somehow be lnterrupted or
lnterference were to occur, the servos wlll move to your pre-set PA|L-SAPL polnt you prevlously stored ln the
recelver durlng the PA|L-SAPL set-up process.
|f PA|L-SAPL has not been actlvated, the slgnal ls swltched on after the HOLD perlod of l sec. Thls means that the
servos become "soft and remaln ln thelr last commanded posltlon under no load (thls may equate to full-throttle!),

SPC (SuppIementary Power Connection) System
Hltecs excluslve optlonal recelver power system allows you to dlrectly power the recelver from the maln motor power battery of
an electrlc powered alrcraft. Up to 35 volts can be fed dlrectly lnto the recelver to power 1UST THL PLCL|vLP PUNCT|ON. |t wlll not
power the servos. Almost all servos wlll burn-up lf more than 6 volts are used over a short perlod of tlme.
Note, some Hltec servos are rated to be used at 7.4volts. ou wlll stlll need to supply power for your servos wlth a four or
ve cell NlMH recelver battery, 2 cell Ll-Po and regulator set-up, or a commerclally avallable 8LC. The SPC system was partlally
created to be lntegrated lnto future Hltec telemetry system devlces. Check the Hltec web slte for more lnformatlon on the avallablllty

A good example ls that, even a very fast plane must take on and land at a relatlvely slow speed compared to how fast lt may ny at full

rates. when nylng slow, full control movement ls necessary, we wlll call thls "hlgh rates, and lt ls what you currently have set-up based

d. Change to the elevator agaln by presslng the arrow to the rlght of the A|LL.
e. Pepeat steps to program our -40% LXPO value for the elevator hlgh rates.
our plane should now be ready to ny. Do a range check and pre-nlght, then go have fun!
Now by throwlng one swltch, you can select to use dual rates and have expo on your elevator and allerons.
34. Using xponentiaI Rates
