Rubber tubing from the gas: Willys weakness, the easy way out

Parts of the house: There is special focus because Willy at one stage is
looking at the ceiling and says something to Charley, which he wants to raise it
more, change it. Contrast between Willys family and Charleys family. Is he in
the right place? Because maybe that is not where he should not look for
success.
Car: Represents his work and himself (effort, works, crashes)
Hammer: Only mentioned once, it was a present and wanted to make an
impression on his children.
Football: Linked to Biff, where he is working really hard. The fat that he
borrowed the balls raises moral issues
Themes
1. The American dream: Success and moving up to dem higher social classes,
always tries to accomplish it desperately, but fails
2. Abandonment: Willys life is composed of one abandonment after the other (for
example his dad abandons him) and Willy is afraid of abandonment
3. Betrayal: Willy considers Biff as constantly betraying him and his ideas, and
Willy takes this rejection as a personal confrontation
4. Reality and illusion: Willy is a dreamer and many times is confused between
dreams and reality and he is constantly exaggerating his success and both the
kids as well dream they are much more successful than what they actually are.
