STARS is a critical medevac service that operates on emergency healthcare/rescue requests from

people in distress and hence the real time information flow is critical for them to access and respond
to the situation efficiently and with minimum response time. As such, the Information system of
stars is the backbone for the gathering, analysis and channelling of information in a systematic,
secure way at a fast pace. Also since they work mostly on funds generated through donations, the
huge cost currently that makes up the consulting fees for the IS department is an unnecessary
burden that can be eliminated by a systematic, central and well organized information system. A
centrally organized IS will also reduce the inter-departmental redundant spending on alternate
systems being requested / implemented by individual department heads.
Since information flow about the condition, requirement, and locations of the people in distress
makes up the backbone of the STARS response strategy, a high-tech, secure, accurate and fast IS will
increase their efficiency and help them save more lives. With integrated advanced technology
offerings and helped by the proposed purchase of a fleet of long range helicopters, the IS will even
help STARS expand its reach in terms of geographical coverage and number of people that it helps as
well as expand its service offering to general search & rescue and disaster relief efforts in a greater
role.
