The seminar will introduce delegates to gear geometry inspection. Although
the seminar focuses on cylindrical gears, the principles apply to other gear
types. No prior gear knowledge is required.
It provides manufacturers with the knowledge to select appropriate
measurement methods and equipment, appreciate the importance of
applying good measurement practice and how to correctly interpret
measurement results. It is applicable to inspection, manufacturing, design
and supervisory staff- anyone who has to make decisions about acceptance of
gears to a standard.
The Seminar will cover:
o How gears work and why we need to measure them.
o ISO terms and symbols and measured parameters.
o An introduction to the common measurement methods and
equipment.
o Use and application of gear accuracy standards (DIN 3962, ISO 1328
etc).
o Good measurement practice- lab demonstration/discussion.
Key skills and knowledge:
At the end of the seminar you will be able to select appropriate measurement
processes, understand the terms, symbols and parameters that are measured,
confidently interpret measurement results sheets to a standard and apply
good measurement practice strategies.
