Credit Schemes

Besides the SEF and EEF, several other credit schemes are in place to assist small and cottage-
scale industries. They are sourced however through a large variety of channels, ranging from
numerous micro-credit schemes run by not-for-profit catalysts, both with national scales of
operations and in the form of boutiques, to BSCIC to micro-credit operations run by
Government departments with an outreach to artisans and rural producers. Their large number,
and intrinsic differences, not to speak in the locational niches which they serve make a
comparative profile of these schemes a uniquely difficult task. The SMESDP has it on the anvil
that there would be a thorough analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the more important of
these credit schemes as a part of laying the groundwork for streamlining efficient, scaleable and
inclusive credit delivery channels for future. When SMESDP finishes up with doing that
evaluation, the SMEWP would take the pleasure in brining you up-to-date with the insights and
results from that analysis.
