If your child is not a bus student, please let us know as soon as possible who will be picking them up at the

end of each day. If your arrangement

changes for any reason, please send a note in your childs mailbag. To ensure your childs safety, we will not send a student home with anyone
new unless we have been notified in advance. If there is a need for a change that occurs in the middle of the day, please phone the school.
Picking Ups: please wait outside in our play yard at 3:20pm. We will dismiss students one at a time so that we can ensure student safety. We
know this may take a few minutes while we get to know the parents and caregivers and we thank you for your patience with this.
Bus students will be picked up by their older bus buddies and walked to the bus. If you are picking up your child who usually takes the bus,
please send a note in the mailbag. *If no note is received to advise us of a change in dismissal, your child will be sent home by his/her usual
method of transportation.*

SEPTEMBER
NEWSLETTER
ROOM 102
MRS. LECUYER
&
MRS. CARON
Dear Families,
Welcome (or welcome
back!) to St. Paul Catholic
School!
We hope everyone had a
wonderful summer and that you
were able to spend some quality
time with family and friends.
September is always such an
exciting time of year and this year is
extra special because we are
starting the Full Day Kindergarten
(FDK) Program at St. Paul. We have
been very very busy getting our
classroom ready for this new
transition and we are so excited to
introduce our first group of FDK
students and families to the new
program. As you know, FDK is a
play based learning program that
works on using our students interests
and natural curiosity and combining
them with the expectations of the
Ontario Curriculum to create an
active and engaging learning
environment. We look forward to
watching all of our new students
grow, inquire, explore, create and
learn. It is going to be a great year
and we cant wait to get started!

Requests
The following is a list
of items that we are
asking each student to
bring to school. Some
things are must-haves
and some are requests
for things that are not
mandatory, but that
really help our
classroom run
smoothly. If you are
able to donate any of
these items we would
really appreciate it!

Superhero of the day:
Each day there will be a special
Superhero of the Day in our
classroom. The students will take turns
having their special day. The
Superhero of the day gets to help with
classroom jobs, lead the class in line-
ups and activities. Please check the
calendar each month for your childs
day.
Lunches
The students at St. Paul are
encouraged to bring nutritious, littler-less
lunches each day. Please do your best
to send reusable containers whenever
possible so we can reduce the amount of
garbage we produce. In order to avoid
food waste and to help parents gauge
how much food is being eaten, we will
be asking students to put uneaten food
back into their containers to take home,
rather than throwing them in the
garbage. We hope that this will reduce
the amount of wasted food and help
parents know if they are packing too
much (or too little) food.
School Attire
Your child will be involved in daily
activities which best suit comfortable
shoes and clothing. Your child will also
need an extra set of clothing and a pair
of indoor gym shoes with non-marking
soles that will stay at school. Please
make sure that all articles of clothing, as
well as knapsacks, lunch boxes and
footwear are clearly labelled with your
childs name.
Mailbags
Mailbags are used for communication
between home and school. Your child
will be bringing home their work, as well
as important information about our class
and school. Please send any notes/
forms/money/library books etc. in the
mailbag so that nothing will be lost or
misplaced. We purchased the mailbags
at Dollarama, so if at any time the bag is
lost or in rough shape, please feel free to
replace it with a new one.
Money
Please use labelled sandwich bags or
envelopes when sending in money for
milk orders, pizza, field trips etc. Please
include your childs name, the amount of
money and the purpose - this helps us
keep track of things when money is
being sent in for many different things.
Thank you!
Parent 3-2-1
Please complete and return the Parent
3-2-1 sheet for your child as soon as
possible so we can get to know them a
little better. Thank you!
Play Dough
The students always
love to create with Play
dough - it is a very
popular centre in any
Kindergarten
classroom. We need
parents to help keep us
in fresh dough. This
year we are asking
each family to take a
turn sending in some
play dough. Please see
the attached schedule
for when I have asked
your family to send
some in. Thanks so
much for your help with
this. We have also
attached a recipe if
needed.
Library
Our class will have the opportunity to go to the library once a week. Students
will be allowed to take home one book each week and we will send it home in their
mailbags. We ask that the book be returned the following week. Thank you for taking
good care of our library books when they come home.
Sound Bag
As part of the language program we will be working on a target letter and sound
each day. We will be using the Jolly Phonics program which is taught in 4 friezes
(groupings
of letters). We will be starting the first frieze which introduces the following
letters:S A T P I N. Each student will have a turn taking home the sound bag and
finding objects that begin with that letter sound.
One Final Note
We want all our students to feel welcome, safe and happy in our classroom. We
know that this is a new transition for many families in our class and that it can be hard
to adjust for both the child and parents. We will do everything we can to make things
as easy as possible for your child. If there is anything we can do to help make it
easier, please let us know. We are looking forward to a wonderful year with your
child.
Should you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to approach us
at anytime. We have an open door policy in our classroom so you are welcome to
speak to us before or after school, send a note in your childs mailbag, or call the
school and leave a message for us. We look forward to working with you and your
child this year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. LEcuyer & Mrs. Caron

Book Orders
Each month I will send home a flyer or
two from Scholastic Book Clubs. If you
are interested in purchasing books,
please send back the completed order
form and a cheque payable to
Scholastic Canada by the date
indicated on the flyer. The cheques
are mailed in so we cannot accept any
cash. The books are reasonably
priced and you can often find really
good deals. This months order is due
on Friday September 19th.
