I Am

By Daisey Lin
I am insensitive, I am stupid, I am childish
I am too lenient, I am too strict
I am frustratingly passive and shamelessly aggressive
I am unfocused and distracting
But I am also too prudent and straight
I wouldnt say I am a non-conformist
But I cant conform if you ask me to pick up the box
nd then you yell at me for picking up the box
I am desperate because I try to please
I am hopeless because I fail to please
nd I am simply not good enough if you can pick out my flaws
Like the tangles in my hair
But the melting pot isnt as simple as everyone makes it out to be
Its full of unfusible colours with eyes like hawks
!eady to identify you as an alien
I am a substance that wills to be accepted by all of those colours
But its simply not possible by any sort of law of nature
Because one cant be distinctly black and white at the same time
I am a chameleon
I conform to the colours
But the colours can see me with their hawk-eyes
nd someone who is many different things is "ust someone different
nd colours
#ant handle
Different
$o divert your "udging hawk-eyes away from me
I want to be like you but I am contradicting
Because you want me to be timid but you want me to be audacious
nd whatever I am, I am still wrong
I am sixty-two percent right
nd the other thirty-eight percent of you tells me I am wrong
Because maybe youre sixty-two percent red
nd thirty-eight percent blue, green, yellow, purple, orange
nd the many shades in between
I am not appealing to everyone
I cant pick up the box and not pick up the box
I am only black or white or a colour in between
But as it appears, according to you
If it isnt everything that I am
%hen it wont be anything that I am
Because if I cannot be everything
%hen I should "ust be
&othing
