kidsPLAY
A unique opportunity for children and caregivers to
participate in an intensive peer supported social
communication skills development program.
Program designed and lead by speech and language
pathologist Heide Emrich, occupational therapist Elizabeth J.
Bell, and Rose Freigang, psychological associate, leaders in
the community regarding best practice with children with
Autism.
This program is run only once a year with a maximum enrolment of 5 children.
kidsPLAY uses a best practice model for intervention. Current research indicates that the best generalization and
maintenance of skills occurs when children learn through observations of and interactions with peers who can
expand play and interactions, and help generalize skills learned in the group to community settings.

Group goals may include the following, depending on the skill levels of the children registered:
self-regulation; listening, looking and responding; greetings; getting someones attention; asking for help and giving help; Initiating,
maintaining and ending play; waiting, taking turns and sharing; feelings; problem-solving; conflict resolutions

8 week program includes pre-group parent meeting, concurrent parent training while the
kidsplay and individual professional team meeting regarding the childs progress on
completion of the program.
1200.00 for group program

Registration and Cancellation Policy: 50% deposit required on registration, balance due first
session. Cancellations accepted one week prior to start date less administration fee of 50.00.
Cancellation can be accepted with less than one week notice if the spot is filled by another
registrant. Administration fee applies. Absence or illness cannot be refunded. Extended health
benefits can be applied.
Children are placed according to ability. Skill Level: advanced Ages: 6-12 Group Times: Fridays: 2- 3:30 p.m. Start date October 3, 2014
