Old Lights vs. New Lights
Rationalist clergy (Anglicans, Presbyterians, Congregational church) vs. revivalists
New lights believed that old lights werent saved and will go to hell; Old lights believed revivalists have gone mad
During the Great Awakening the old lights lost many people to the new lights
Effects of the Great Awakening/rivalry:
o Decreased influence of old light religions
o Colleges were formed free of O.L & N.L influence
o Spread Christianity to slaves
o White women had more power in religious activities

William Pepperell seized Louisburg from France
The Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle (1748) returned Louisburg to France, but the hostile feelings that had been aroused did
