Dear Sirs, Request for Mutual Assistance by the Syndicat National des Pilotes de Ligne (SNPL)
We have been informed that the Syndicat National des Pilotes de Ligne (SNPL) will initiate a strike from the 15 th September to 22 nd September 2014.
This industrial action is aimed at bringing attention to the ongoing differences between Air France Management and SNPL AF ALPA regarding its new cost cuttings plan Perform 2020.
Unable to cope with the real problems the company is facing (disproportionate tax burden, unfair competition, staff surplus) the AF KLM Management has chosen to not comply with its commitments regarding scope clauses and job security included in the previous cost cuttings plan Transform 2015.
Although the SNPL AF ALPA have made numerous proposals (which have all been rejected) based on a external study published late June, the Management is officially stating the Air France pilots should accept to outsource pilot jobs to Transavia France (its low cost subsidiary) and lower the Transavia pilots conditions by 15% otherwise AF KLM will create a new LCC subsidiary named Transavia Europe, open bases in Porto, Lisbon and Munchen and outsource pilot jobs at local conditions.
The SNPL AF ALPA deplores such discreditable negotiating methods and regrets to have to engage an industrial action that will undoubtedly affect the Air France customers. Therefore, SNPL AF ALPA would like to request immediate implementation of the following Mutual Assistance Policies:
Request for Ban on Wet Leasing (I Manual, Paragraph 2.4.1.1) Request for Freeze in Capacity (I Manual, Paragraph 2.4.1.3)
The Syndicat National des Pilotes de Ligne will keep IFALPA, Member Associations and SkyTeam Members informed of any further developments concerning this dispute.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Kind Regards,
Captain Fanie Coetzee Executive Vice-President, Professional Affairs
