Professional Roles

There are many professional roles in school districts. The most

crucial job of the whole school district is the Superintendent. Most
importantly, the Superintendent directs the entire school district based
on guidance from the school board. The Superintendent is also
involved in everything that has to do with the district from a pipe burst
to checking the roads for ice in bad weather days. This is something
did not reali!e about the Superintendent. "nother professional role in
the school district is the counselors that help students with schedules
and personal help and advice.
Most students are more directly involved with the principals and
the teachers. Principles are responsible for leading the school to meet
its goals passed down from the Superintendent. They develop
programs and policies for the students and teachers to follow to meet
these goals. These are just a few of many very important professional
roles in the school district.
#earning these di$erent roles helped me better understand all of
the work that goes into a great school district. feel that now have a
better perspective of what all truly goes on behind the scenes in a
district. %ne thing that learned that stood out to me was that the
&oard of Trustees are elected volunteers and that they do not have to
be a prior teacher. They help determine the vision of the school district
by giving a voice from the community. "ll of the roles in a school
district are important to the district and help establish a great school
district.
