Mother of two little imps who has taken advantage of
staying at home to realise a childhood dream of being an
author. "Detective Gayatri Series", a collection of four excit-
ing mysteries for children and my frst book, has just been
published!
I freelanced as a translator in Spanish and Portuguese and worked as translator+editor for an
electronic newspaper for ships.
I was always clear about being a hands-on mum. I wanted to
enjoy my children and do loads of things with them - reading,
storytelling, singing, baking, crafts, or simply horsing around!
When my younger child started playschool (the older one began
regular school the same year) I mulled over part-time and work-
from-home options, and decided to aim for my dream and give
storywriting a shot. I had some time to myself with the children's
school routine, so started writing.
Thanks to an encouraging and supportive family and good
domestic help! I squeeze in a few paragraphs whenever I get a
chance! - when the children are at school, or after they fall asleep,
or when their father takes them out to play. The children playing
a noisy game together? Never mind, I type away happily amidst
the racket! Where there's a will there's a way! And I'm starting on
a second book.
I want to write many more stories for children. Books and children
- I enjoy both heartily, and I want to contribute to the wonderful
world of children's fction - particularly children's literature in my
country. I do hope children, young and old, will enjoy reading
detective Gayatri's adventures as much as I enjoyed writing them
