The Role of Green Tea Extract (Camellia sinensis) Towards

The Amount of Blood Vessel as Angiogenesis Marker on

Posttooth Extraction !ound of Male !istar Rat
Tooth extraction is a common procedure in the dentistry. What should be closely observed after tooth
extraction treatment is the progress of wound healing process. The formation of new blood vessel is
required for normal granulation tissue. One sort of plants which has beneficial effect for accelerating
wound healing is green tea. This research aimed at examining the role of green tea extract towards
the amount of blood vessel as angiogenesis marker on post-tooth extraction wound. Type of research
was laboratory experiment by scheme of post-test control group design. amples used were !" rats
which were divided into two groups# namely controlled and treatment group. The controlled group was
given aquades# whereas the treatment group was given green tea extract everyday until taken for the
experiment. $fter extraction of mandibular left molar# these rats were tested based on sub-group at

Observation was carried out under microscope with "**x magnification# examined on + field of view.
The results showed that the amount of blood vessel on average in treatment group was higher than in
controlled group. Conclusion of this research was that green tea extract increased the amount of
blood vessel as angiogenesis marker on post-tooth extraction wound. Therefore# green tea extract
accelerated the wound healing process.
