First came to be after the fall of the Carolingian Empire due to invasions by
the Muslims, Magyars, and Vikings.
Exchange of pledges between the vassals and the greater lords was known as
the feudal contract.
Underprivileged people worked as vassals or serfs. They were stuck in their
social and economic classes.
Depended on the control of land
A king was on top of the feudalism pyramid. Then, nobles and bishops to
knights and peasants were on the bottom.
Life for peasants was very harsh. Everyone had to work all day.
It consisted of self-sufficient communities.
System of governing and land holding provided the people with a sense of
security and stability.
Manors rested on a set of rights and obligations between a lord and his serfs.
