1. Find a passage that uses elaborate description of an object, setting, or character. What sorts of words does the author use? Make a list. (Use your sticky notes to keep track).
2. Select one piece of dialogue from your novel. Who is speaking to whom? What is the context of the conversation? Why is this piece of dialogue interesting or amusing? Why did you choose this piece of dialogue? (Use your sticky notes to keep track).
3. Find an example of a complex sentence in your novel. (Mark it with a sticky note).

Find at least ten words (throughout the whole book) of which you are not sure of the exact meaning.
1. Write down the sentence and underline the word. 2. Write what you think the word means. 3. Look up the exact meaning. 4. Write what you think the word means in the context found. 5. Write your own sentence using this word.
