CHRISTMAS PEACE

Part 4 of Series: Ripple Effect

Dec. 12th & 13th, 2009 // Pastor Kerry Shook

3 Causes of War in Our Hearts and Minds

• We battle with circumstances that are uncontrollable

• We battle with people who are unchangeable

• We battle with problems that are unexplainable

“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will
rest on His shoulders. And He will be called: Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
(NLT)

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom

His favor rests." Luke 2:14 (NIV)

"I am leaving you with a gift--peace of mind and heart! And the
peace I give isn't fragile like the peace the world gives. So don't be
troubled or afraid.”
John 14:27 (LB)

1. ACCEPT THE KING’S PLAN

“May Your kingdom come; may Your will be done on earth as it
is in heaven.” Matt. 6:10 (GN)
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot
change, the courage to change the things I can, and the
wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardship as a
pathway to peace, taking as Jesus did, this sinful world as it
is, not as I would have it; trusting that You will make all
things right if I surrender to Your will so that I may be
reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You
forever in the next. Amen
Reinhold Niebuhr

2. SURRENDER TO THE KING’S

CONTROL
“Stop quarreling with God! If you agree with Him, you will have
peace at last, and things will go well for you.”
Job 22:21 (NLT)

3. TRUST THE KING TO PROVIDE

FOR ME
“God will give you all you need from day to day if you live for
Him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.”
Matt. 6:33 (NLT)

He (Jesus) will settle disputes among great nations. They will
hammer their swords into plows and their spears into pruning
knives. Nations will never again go to war, never prepare for
battle again.”
Isaiah 2:4 (GN)

“It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set
by His own authority. But … you will be My witnesses….”
Acts 1:7,8 (NIV)
