(1)Nouns
Japanese nouns have no gender, no singular/plural, and no articles. ("the" and "a" etc.)
For example, the word "tomodachi" can be "a riend," "the riend," "riends," or "the
riends." !suall" the context tells the particular meaning o a word.

"$ desu" is e%uivalent to &nglish "am," "are," or "is." !nli'e &nglish, it doesn(t change its
orm according to the sub)ect. "$ desu" alwa"s comes at the end o a sentence.
*atashi wa ga'usei desu.

arimasen" is more ormal, and "$ )a arimasen" is common in casual conversation.
