CASE 2 RECAP - BLACK SCREEN
The screen shows a blank screen with black and white image/s
from the last case.
VALERIE (VO)
A few weeks ago, I discovered that
I was different.
Well, more so than anyone else. I
had the ability to pass through
mirrors into a distorted world
known as Reflectus.
And it came in handy too, because
without it, I never would have been
able to save the towns witches from
being drained of all their power
and a man who wanted to use
peoples greatest desires against
them.
This case was to be one of the
strangest yet, and one that was
very close to home.
2.
ON THE WAY - NIGHT - ALLEYWAY - EXTERIOR
FADE IN
A young man is walking down a road.
VALERIE (VO)
This is Zachary LeBlanc, my
stepbrother. As you can probably
guess by that statement, I was
adopted.
My parents probably took one look
at me and freaked out. Cant say I
blame them in some ways, but it
does hurt a little if I dwell on it
too much.
He stops just past an alleyway.
VALERIE (VO)
My stepparents were great people,
helping me even when the kids
called me names or bullied me
because of my imperfections.
But sadly, they were killed in a
car accident a few years ago.
Me and Zach hadnt really got on
before it happened, but we found
solace in each other because we
were the only link to them.
After a while, we grew close to
each other as only a family can.
He decides to cut down the alleyway instead of taking the
main road. He gets to the other side and looks annoyed at
the fact there is a high fence blocking the way.
VALERIE (VO)
We sold the house, and that gave us
enough money to buy a place for
both of us.
Zach was coming round tonight so we
could watch a film from the vast
collection I kept above the bed.
But little did we know, fate had
another plan for us that night ...

CONTINUED: 3.
Zach tries to climb the fence but he gets caught on the
fence and slips back to the floor. His shirt gets caught and
the impact rips them.
Zach grabs his side. A little bit of blood escapes.
ZACH
Agh!
He gets to his feet slowly and looks back. There is someone
shrouded in shadow walking toward him. He backs up toward
the fence, too injured to make another attempt over the
fence.
The man walks up to him, the streetlight removing the shadow
from his face. He chuckles lightly and licks his lips.
UNKNOWN MAN
And where would a handsome guy like
you be running off to in such a
hurry, hmm?
He swoops down toward Zach, going out of view.
FADE OUT
4.
MEETING UP - DAY - APPLE AND SAGE - INTERIOR
Valerie is sat at one of the tables in the bar.
VALERIE (THOUGHT)
Its not like Zach to miss our film
sessions. I hope hes ok.
But if it turns out he ditched me
without telling me, hed better
have packed a jockstrap ...
A hand is placed on Valeries table. She looks up to see Sam
standing there.
SAM
Spaced out Val?
Valerie ignores the comment and sips the drink she has in
front of her. Sam notices what she is drinking.
SAM
Youre drinking Guinness?! Whats
up?
VALERIE
What do you mean?
SAM
You only drink Guinness when youre
pissed off or youve been crying.
She looks down at the glass then back at Sam with a realized
expression.
VALERIE
Fair point.
SAM
So whats up girl?
Sam sits down next to Valerie.
VALERIE
Zach didnt turn up to our film
night. And he hasnt tried to
contact me in a few days.
Sam doesnt look surprised by this, but she does look
slightly worried.

CONTINUED: 5.
SAM
Have you tried calling him, or
going round to his flat?
VALERIE
I thought something may have come
up so I decided to wait and see,
but I guess I should have called.
Its Sams turn to look concerned.
VALERIE
Whats wrong?
SAM
Theres been people going missing
Val, and some of them are turning
up dead.
Valeries eyes open wide in horror.
VALERIE
How long has this been going on
for?
SAM
A couple of weeks, but I was sworn
to secrecy unless I felt someone
was in danger.
VALERIE
By Andy?
SAM
By Andys boss.
VALERIE
Oh. But what does that have to do
with Zach?
SAM
Try calling him now, see if he
answers.
Valerie gets her phone out and dials his number. It doesnt
ring but goes straight to a default answerphone message.
VALERIE
His phones switched off ...
SAM
Val, I think we ought to go to
Zachs place right now.

Seeing the determination in her eyes, Valerie doesnt argue.
She and Sam both get to their feet and leave the pub.
VALERIE (VO)
We might have been worrying about
nothing, but Sam was right. If Zach
was in danger, we had to find him.
7.
A VISION OF HOPE - DAY - ZACHS FLAT - INTERIOR
Sam and Valerie open the front door to Zachs flat. They
walk inside and look around the room.
VALERIE
Zach?
SAM
Zach, you there?
There is no answer.
VALERIE
Somethings not right, he never
leaves the room like this, and hes
always around this time in the
morning.
SAM
We should take a look round, maybe
theres a note or something.
Valerie nods.
VALERIE (VO)
I know that Zach went off the rails
after mum and dads death, but I
thought he was getting better.
I just hope we can find him before
something happens to him ...
8.
THE HELPFUL WOMAN - DAY - BY ALLEYWAY - EXTERIOR
Valerie stands by a fence, looking into an alleyway.
VALERIE
I know he has used that alleyway to
get to me before, but did he come
through that night?
WOMAN
Can I help you dear?
Valerie jumps and turns around to see a woman standing
there.
VALERIE
Im sorry?
WOMAN
You look like you have the world on
your shoulders, anything I can help
you with?
VALERIE (VO)
This woman may know something, but
then again she may not. But it
never hurts to ask.
9.
ANOTHER VISION - DAY - APPLE AND SAGE - INTERIOR
Valerie and Sam walk into the pub. They look worried but
they are trying to stay strong. They sit down where they
were before.
Ironically, Valeries Guinness glass is still there.
Although now it now empty instead of half full.
SAM
If we havent heard from him in the
next hour, Im going down to the
station to put him on the missing
persons register.
Tears fill Valeries eyes and she looks at her best friend.
SAM
Oh Val ...
Valerie begins to cry. Sam places an arm around her.
SAM
Well find him Val. I promise.
Sam rubs her friends back to try and sooth her. After a
second, she stops sobbing and Sam lets go of her gently.
VALERIE
Sorry Sam. Kind of lost myself a
bit there.
SAM
Val, never be sorry for your
emotions, you cry if you want to.
Valerie takes a tissue out of her sleeve and blows her nose.
VALERIE
Thanks Sam.
SAM
My pleasure girl. Now, get yourself
another Guinness to calm your
nerves, then well get down the
station as soon as we can.
Valerie smiles, wipes her eyes and walks up to the bar.
Graeme the barman is stood there, he ignores Valeries tear
stroked face

GRAEME
Another half a Guinness Val?
VALERIE
Yes please Grae.
Graeme goes to pour the drink. Valerie looks up at the
mirror behind the bar and sees Zach in the mirror, but he
looks slightly pale and his eyes are a different colour. She
does a double take and when she looks back, he is gone.
GRAEME
Here you go Val.
Valerie jumps but composes herself just in time to prevent
anyone noticing.
VALERIE
Thanks Grae.
She takes the drink and gives Graeme the exact money. She
moves quickly back to the table.
SAM
You OK Val? You look like youve
seen a ghost.
VALERIE
I hope not, Ive just saw Zach in
the mirror behind the bar.
Sams eyes open wide.
SAM
Are you sure?
VALERIE
Positive. He looked a little pale
but it was definitely him.
SAM
So what does it mean?
VALERIE
Ive no idea. Is it possible that
hes in Reflectus?
SAM
I dont know ... But its definitely
worth taking the chance.
Valerie gets to her feet and swallows the Guinness in one
go.

VALERIE (VO)
The more I thought about Zach being
in Reflectus, the more it made
sense.
But if that was the case, why had I
seen him in the mirror in his flat
and not in Reflectus when I went
through?
I didnt know the answer to any of
the questions, but I hoped that I
would find an answer, and my
stepbrother.
12.
HITTING THE FAN - DAY - REFLECTUS APPLE AND SAGE - INTERIOR
Valerie emerges from the mirror in the bathroom and opens
the door to the main area. She looks around and sees a leg
poking out from behind a wall.
Valerie walks around to see what is behind the wall, it is
Zach, kissing an unknown man. She is frozen to the spot in
shock. The man opens his eyes and sees Valerie.
In fright, he breaks the kiss with Zach and moves in front
of her before she can blink. Zach opens his eyes but is not
looking in Valeries direction.
DARIEN (GROWL)
Who the hell are you?
VALERIE
I should be the one asking that
question.
Zach looks around.
ZACH
Val? What are you doing here?
Darien spins to Zach.
DARIEN
You know this woman my love?
ZACH
Yes Darien I do, shes my sister.
Darien bows his head in respect.
DARIEN
I am sorry Miss, I meant only to
protect my love.
VALERIE
Your love? Youre in love with my
brother?
DARIEN
Since the moment we met. I
apologise if he did not mention me
but we have only been seeing each
other for a few weeks.
Valerie looks at Zach and sees he is telling the truth.

VALERIE
Why didnt you tell me about this
Zach? I thought we didnt keep any
secrets?
ZACH
Because Darien isnt entirely human
Val, at least not anymore.
Valerie looks confused.
VALERIE
What do you mean he isnt human?
ZACH
He is a catadioptre. In English,
its translation is Reflector.
VALERIE
And what exactly is a Reflector?
DARIEN
Weve been called many names over
the years, but I believe you have
heard of one of the myths our kind
inspired.
VALERIE
Myths?
DARIEN
The myth of a creature that lives
in the shadows, feeding on the life
of others so it may live for
eternity.
Valerie gasps.
VALERIE
Do you mean to say you invented
Vampires?
Darien nods.
DARIEN
That is not the whole story. Word
of mouth and poor translation means
that somehow, our kind have pointed
teeth and drain all the blood out a
victim.

VALERIE
So if you dont drink blood, what
do you take?
DARIEN
Life energy. But if we stay in our
world we do not need it, it is only
needed if we live in your world.
Valerie realises what has been happening.
VALERIE
THen one of your kind must be in
our world, because someone is
draining people of all their life
energy.
Dariens face looks even more grim.
DARIEN
I know, I was with the ones of my
kind draining those people.
Valerie looks angry.
VALERIE
And youre keeping my brother here
so you can drain the life out of
everyone to keep yourself living?
DARIEN
We do not have a choice. If we
dont, we die in your world.
VALERIE
THen do me a favour, dont come
through.
She walks over to Zach.
VALERIE
Zach, were going home right now!
She grabs him by the arm and drags him towards the bathroom.
Zach pulls away.
ZACH
I cant go back Val!
VALERIE
Why not?

ZACH
If I do, Ill need energy to stay
there. Darien made me into a
Reflector.
Valerie walks back into the bathroom dragging Zach with her.
Not saying a word, she travels through to Earth, taking Zach
with her.
16.
THE BIG SISTER ACT - DAY - APPLE AND SAGE - INTERIOR
Valerie reappears in the normal world with Zach. They walk
out into the bar.
ZACH
I didnt mean to worry you Val. I
didnt even know if you knew about
Reflectus. I wanted to keep you
safe.
VALERIE
I understand Zach. But how can you
be with that reflector? Hes one of
the people taking people hostage,
and you let him change you into one
of those monsters!
ZACH
Thats just it. I thought he was
going to be killed. One of the
reflectors had me held down. But
before I could be drained, Darien
killed them all.
Before I could thank him, he kissed
me. I was so stunned that I let him
protect me from the others.
He said that he had been ordered to
take me out, but he couldnt
because I was his soul mate. To
protect me, he offered to turn me
into a reflector so I wouldnt be a
target.
VALERIE
And you accepted?
ZACH
I had to Val, if Darien had changed
me I would have been killed.
Valerie doesnt look happy, but she is willing to accept it
for now.
VALERIE
Its not that I dont trust your
judgment Zach, I just wonder how
much of the truth he is telling
you.
(CONTINUED)

DARIEN
A wise move.
Valerie and Zach turn round to see Darien has come through.
VALERIE
I hope you do not consider my
distrust to be offensive, but I
want to make sure my brother is
safe.
DARIEN
I would do the same if my love was
my brother.
Valerie feels slightly nauseous by the sentimentality of the
statement. But she decides to keep things professional.
VALERIE
You said that reflectors drain
people of their life energy, can
they kill their feeders?
Darien looks grim, and down at the ground.
DARIEN
Yes, if they go too far. But most
of our kind only drain enough to
survive.
VALERIE
Well some of your kind must be
taking it too far, because there
have been people found dead.
And from what youve told me, it
sounds like your kind were
responsible.
Darien looks up at Valerie.
DARIEN
I know they are. But there is
nothing I can do. They are a lot
older than me, and a lot more
powerful.
I changed your brother so I could
protect him, and so he could
protect himself if I wasnt there.
All of my kind get one person they
are meant to be with, and that
person is Zach.

Valerie looks skeptical, but Sam walks over.
SAM
Well from what Ive heard, Id say
that Zach has another person that
would risk their life for him.
VALERIE
Youre OK with all this Sam?
SAM
Darien isnt a bad guy Val, Ive
met him several time before and
hes helped as a volunteer on a
load of cases. That and hes hotter
than holy hell.
Darien blushes and Zach smiles.
SAM
Until today, I didnt know he
wasnt human but that doesnt
matter. Hes proved to me the kind
of person he is, and in time hell
convince you too.
Valerie looks at the other three.
VALERIE (VO)
I still wasnt sure if I trusted
Darien, but he seemed as if he was
one of the good guys.
Besides, Sam and Zach would have
kept pestering me until I let him
stay.
I did believe Sam on one thing
though, he was incredibly hot. Was
my distrust of Darien mixed with a
tinge of jealousy?
Valerie sighs.
VALERIE
Guess I dont have a choice.
Zach smiles widely at his sisters pseudo acceptance.
VALERIE
But you harm one hair on my
brothers head, and youll wish you
werent immortal. Am I clear?

DARIEN
I will never hurt him. I promise
you.
Sam grabs Valerie by the hand.
SAM
What do you say we go on the fruit
machine and leave the two lovebirds
to their loving?
Valerie blushes.
VALERIE
Samantha, you are such a slut!
SAM
What can I say, Im British.
Valerie and Sam walk over to the fruit machine and Zach and
Darien sit at one of the tables. As Sam works the machine,
Valerie looks back at the two men.
VALERIE (VO)
I still didnt trust Darien
completely, but Zach looks happier
than Ive seen him since the
accident so I guess the two cancel
out.
I hoped that in time my suspicions
about the Reflector would be proved
wrong, but there are many kinds of
love.
If what Darien said is true, weve
got to be on our toes if any of the
more powerful reflectors decide to
show their faces.
Because if Ive learned thing about
the world in the last few weeks,
its that every action has a
consequence.
And every consequence is a cause
for action.

END OF ACT 1
20.
THE BEST FRIEND DISAPPEARS - DAY - VALERIES FLAT - INTERIOR
A week later appears on the screen.
Valerie is sat at her desk reading a newspaper.
VALERIE (VO)
A week had come and gone. I spent a
lot of time with Zach and his new
boyfriend in that time.
He seemed to be a genuinely nice
guy, and as time went on, I let my
sibling protection instincts grow
to accept him.
VALERIE (VO)
It turned out that he was older
than he looked. In fact he had been
a servant to a king, but had been
betrayed and cast out.
He was given sanctuary by the
Reflectors and they took him to
their world. He had become very
isolated and until he met Zach, he
had no one he could call a true
friend.
It could have been written on the
back of a matchbox, but the way he
told it made me believe every word.
Valerie turns the page of the paper.
VALERIE (VO)
What was strange though, was that I
hadnt heard anything from Sam for
the last three days. I assumed that
because of the disappearances she
was being kept busy, so I left her
alone.
Valerie picks up her phone and dials it.
VALERIE (VO)
But this morning, I did want to
check in. Just in case.
The phone goes to answerphone.
(CONTINUED)

VALERIE (THOUGHT)
Maybe shes down at the station.
Then hopefully I can get an answer.
22.
THE CALL OF DREAD - DAY
Valeries phone rings. She gets it out of her pocket. It is
an unknown number.
VALERIE
Hello?
UNKNOWN MAN
Hello Miss LeBlanc. It is good to
hear your voice.
VALERIE
What? Who are you?
UNKNOWN MAN
Not important. But what is
important is that I have your
friend Samantha here with me. And
she is so very desperate to see you
again.
VALERIE
What have you done with her?
UNKNOWN MAN
Nothing yet. But I will if you do
not give me what I ask for.
VALERIE
And what is that?
UNKNOWN MAN
You. Your power goes far beyond
going between our worlds Miss
LeBlanc.
VALERIE
My power?
UNKNOWN MAN
Yes. If you want to see her alive
again, come and find us within
twenty four hours.
If you do not, we will take her
life. Then, we will drain every
last human until we find you.
Tick tock.
He hangs up the phone. Valerie puts it back in her pocket.

VALERIE (VO)
That call chilled me to my bones.
The reflectors Darien talked about
had taken my best friend. Which
made me wonder, which side was
Darien truly on?
After all, he had met Sam, and knew
she was connected to me. But
realistically, I couldnt go
accusing, and I didnt know where
he would be.
I would have to go to the one
person that knew her as well as me.
Andrew Cream.
24.
ASKING THE ENEMY FOR HELP - DAY - POLICE STATION - INTERIOR
Valerie appears through the mirror behind Andrew. He hears
her feet land on the floor and turns around. He sees her
appear through the mirror.
ANDREW
What the hell?
Valerie realises what she has done.
VALERIE (THOUGHT)
Oh shit. Real smooth Valerie.
ANDREW
Where did you come from?
VALERIE
I can explain everything everything
Andy. But first, theres something
you have to know.
ANDREW
About what? What are you?
VALERIE
I am human, just like you. I just
have the ability to go through
mirrors for some reason.
ANDREW
Through mirrors?
VALERIE
To another world. Things appear
there that dont in our world. And
one of those things took Sam.
Andy looks shocked.
ANDREW
They took her?
VALERIE
I dont know where. But I knew I
had to come to you because youre
the only one that can help me.
ANDREW
How do I know this isnt just a
joke?
Valerie reaches into her pocket and pulls out her phone.

VALERIE
Because I have proof.
She replays the last call. When it is finished, Andy looks
pale.
VALERIE
I know you dont think much of me
Andy, but Sam is in danger. I dont
know what to do.
ANDREW
Theres only one thing we can do.
We have to find her before those
bastards kill her.
VALERIE
But how? She could be anywhere.
ANDREW
Exactly. Thats why we have to
start looking.
Andy grabs his keys and his coat.
ANDREW
I never thought Id say this,
welcome to the team Miss LeBlanc.
VALERIE
Thank you, sir.
Andy smiles at the comment. A man walks in.
OFFICER
Sorry to bother you sir, but weve
had reports of violent conduct at
the Apple and Sage. Weve blocked
it off until you get there and then
well do a full investigation.
Andy looks a little annoyed, but he wonders if Sam could
have been taken from there.
ANDREW
Thank you Sanders. Well be there
as soon as we can.
OFFICER
Yes sir!
He leaves. Valerie looks at him.

VALERIE
What do you mean when you say We?
ANDREW
I mean you of course. This might
have something to do with Sam.
Valerie nods and the two leave the police station.
VALERIE (VO)
So now I had Andrew on my side.
That was something I didnt see
coming.
And he was right about one thing,
she could have been taken from the
pub. But surely someone would have
told them before?
Regardless, I had to find Sam. If I
didnt, innocent people could die.
I just hoped that Zach was nowhere
near this, because if things went
bad, his boyfriend could be in the
line of fire.
There was no choice, the other
reflectors had to be found. And
soon.
FADE OUT
END OF ACT 2
27.
BACK TO THE PUB - DAY - APPLE AND SAGE - INTERIOR
Valerie and Andy walk through the front door of the pub to
find the place in a bit of a mess. Tables are strewn, liquid
has been spilled and assorted objects are scattered around.
VALERIE
What the hell could have happened
in here?
ANDREW
I wish I knew. I was in here last
night and it wasnt like this. And
theres no sign of forced entry
either.
Valerie looks at him.
VALERIE
Im betting it had something to do
with them.
ANDREW
Them?
VALERIE
The Reflectors. They could have
slipped through the mirrors just
like I did.
ANDREW
If they wanted to get to you why
couldnt they have taken someone
else?
VALERIE
They tried with my brother. But one
of the good ones of their kind is
making sure he stays safe.
ANDREW
Are you sure about that?
VALERIE
No, but Ive got no choice but to
trust him. Otherwise I could lose
him forever.
Andy smiles.
ANDREW
You do what you have to do?
(CONTINUED)

VALERIE
You do.
Andy looks around the place.
VALERIE (VO)
We had no choice but to try and
find any trace of where Sam had
been taken, and if she was even
here.
Something told me that if Sam had
been taken, she would let me know
somehow. Some kind of message or
clue hidden just out of sight.
But maybe that was just wishful
thinking. Either way, we both had
something we needed to do.
For me it was to find Sam, for Sam,
it was to stay alive for long as
she could.
Funny, when you put it that way, it
almost sounds easy.
29.
DARIENS ADVICE - DAY - APPLE AND SAGE - INTERIOR
Valeries phone rings. She answers it on the second ring.
VALERIE
Hello?
DARIEN
Val, theyve got Sam.
VALERIE
I know. I was called by one of the
other reflectors.
DARIEN
What was he like?
VALERIE
Confident, sounded like he knew it
all.
Darien is silent for a second.
DARIEN
Julian.
VALERIE
Is that bad?
DARIEN
As bad as you can get. Hes
practically the leader of the
group.
I REALLY WANT TO HELP YOU VAL, BUT HES
FORBIDDEN ME TO TELL ANYONE WHERE THEY ARE KEEEPING HER. I
CANT EVEN TELL ZACH FOR GODS SAKE. MY OWN BOYFRIEND.
Valeries face tightens.
VALERIE
What do you mean hes ordred you?
DARIEN
He has more power than me, so he
can force me to do anything he
says.
VALERIE
Like a glamour?
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 30.
DARIEN
In a sense, but I cant break it
even if I wanted to.
VALERIE
So why did you call?
DARIEN
To give you the only support I can.
Ive got your brother safely hidden
away. THey dont know I turned him
and they dont know where he is.
VALERIE (THOUGHT)
He really did it. He said he would
protect him and he meant it ...
VALERIE
Thank you ...
DARIEN
I would do anything for him Val.
But listen, I can give you one
clue. Its not much, but I hope it
helps.
Valerie is silent for a second.
VALERIE
What is it?
DARIEN
Follow the truth, and you will find
the path.
I am really sorry, but thats all I
can say.
It doesnt help Valerie, but she has to be gracious as he is
sacrificing himself for her.
VALERIE
Thank you Darien, Im sorry you had
to do this for me.
DARIEN
Dont be. I chose to do this, and I
will keep all of you safe. Its up
to you now Val. Good luck.
He hangs up. Valerie disconnects the phone.

I hope Dariens advice is useful,
otherwise Sam wont live to see
another day.
32.
TRUTH - DAY - APPLE AND SAGE - INTERIOR
Valerie picks up the front page of a newspaper and sees the
deadline stating about Adrian Duvalle. The headline states
What is the Truth about the man in charge?"
VALERIE
The mystery behind the CEO of
Veritus Industries Adrian Duvalle
still continues.
The employees of the company insist
that Mr Duvalle will be reappear in
the public eye as soon as he is
able.
Although the company itself is now
based away from its former
headquarters on the outskirts of
town, many land owners are bemused
by the fact the company still holds
the land as part of its personal
property.
A representative for the company
stated the truth behind everything
will be revealed when the time is
right. As cryptic as this sounds,
he convinced this reporter that
there is no immediate cause for
alarm.
More details on page 7.
Valerie is even more confused and she drops the paper. But
she remembers what Darien told her on the phone.
DARIEN (ECHOED)
Follow the path of truth Val, and
youll find the way.
VALERIE
The truth ...
VALERIE (THOUGHT)
If the building for Veritus
Industries has been abandoned, it
would be the perfect place to hide
missing people ...
VALERIE (VO)

She hands him the newspaper. He looks, shuddering slightly

VALERIE
If you were trying to keep people
hidden, youd do it somewhere where
no one could get to them.
ANDREW
So youre saying she could be
inside the building?
VALERIE
Im saying all the missing people
could be, if they havent been
found already.
Andys expression changes from doubtful to neutral.
ANDREW
Its definitely worth looking into.
How did you think of it?
VALERIE
I realised what Darien said was a
clue. When I saw the paper I
thought of Veritus Industries,
Veritus is Latin for truth.
And with the abandoned building, it
kind of made sense they would keep
her there..
ANDREW
Good work. Have you ever considered

IS THIS IT? - DAY - ABANDONED WAREHOUSE - INTERIOR
Valerie and Andy break through the door and into the
warehouse. It is practically empty and there is no-one
there.
ANDY
Great. A dead end.
VALERIE
Seems so. Maybe we should check
around to be sure.
ANDY
OK. But if we cant find anything
solid, we get the rest of the
police involved.
VALERIE
Deal.
The two set off in different directions to search the room.

THE CLICHE - DAY - ABANDONED WAREHOUSE - INTERIOR
Valerie tries looking in the bookcase and she finds a book
that is stuck on the end with a small golden crest on it.
When she tries to move it, it doesnt move.
VALERIE
What the heck?
She presses the golden crest and the bookcase moves to the
side to reveal a plain oak door. Andy hears it moving and
walks over.
ANDY
You have got to be kidding me.
VALERIE
Guess we know this place isnt
abandoned.
She tries the door and it opens.
ANDY
That was easy ...
VALERIE
Too easy.
Valerie walks inside followed by Andy. It closes behind them
and they look around. There is no light in the room.
VALERIE (THOUGHT)
This isnt good.
THere is a clicking sound and a light comes on. Julian is
sat at the desk. He is smiling widely and claps gently.
JULIAN
Well done Miss LeBlanc. I see you
managed to solve the puzzle.
VALERIE
What have you done with Sam?
JULIAN
Shes alive, for now. But if you do
not turn yourself over to me, I
will make her one of us.
Or I may even kill her. Whichever I
choose.

Valerie and Andy look in horror at each other. Julian clicks
his fingers and another Reflector restrains Andy. It is
Darien.
VALERIE
Darien?! What the hell?
DARIEN (STRAINED)
Im sorry Valerie, he found out
what I told you and took control of
me.
JULIAN
ENOUGH!
Julian clenches his fist and Darien screams in pain. The
pain in strong but not enough to make him release Andy.
VALERIE
Why are you doing this? Surely you
dont need to kill to survive.
JULIAN
I dont need to kill. I enjoy it.
Just as I will enjoy killing
everyone in the city once you are
gone.
VALERIE
You sick bastard!
JULIAN
I have been called worse. But I
cannot deny, your statement has
truth.
VALERIE
If you wanted to kill everyone, why
did you want to kill me first?
JULIAN
So you would not get in my way of
course. THat and The Lord desires
you to be taken out for his plan to
begin.
You have two choices, submit to me,
or your friend becomes my servant,
unable to resist my every whim.
Valerie looks down at the ground, she gets a boost of
confidence and looks up at him.

JULIAN
Well Miss LeBlanc, it seems you
have lost your nerve. And your
life.
Julian leaps across the desk and slams his hand on her
chest. Valerie shudders as her energy is drained from her.
After a few seconds, her head slops to the side. Julian
stands over her and laughs.
VALERIE (VO)
And that was the story of how I
died. But I cant help thinking if
things had been different, maybe
there would have been another
ending ...

INTERIOR
VALERIE
OK, you win. Take me and let Sam
live.
JULIAN
I knew you would see it my way,
everyone always does.
Julian walks over to Valerie and places a hand on her.
JULIAN
First I will draw your power, and
then I will make you my
unquestioning servant!
He places his hand on her chest and tries to drain her
power. She glows slightly but nothing else happens.
JULIAN
What the hell?
Julian is thrown backwards by a flash of energy towards the
wall. He growls and gets to his feet. He clicks his fingers
and another Reflector brings an unconscious Sam to him. She
is standing up.
JULIAN
It seems I cannot get your power
Miss LeBlanc. Therefore, you have
no way to bargain with me. So your
friend pays the price.
He places a hand on her chest and she glows a lot brighter
than Valerie did. Her eyes open wide and for a second, red
light shines out of them. He lets go off her chest and she
awakens.
JULIAN
Welcome my newest servant.
SAM
Hello master. How may I serve you?
VALERIE (THOUGHT)
This cant be happening. It just
cant.
Julian points to the mirror.

JULIAN
Go through to our world, and wait
for me there.
SAM
Your order shall be done.
She walks toward the mirror and goes through it.
VALERIE
I wanted to run at him and claw his
eyes out. But it was impossible. He
could stop me with a mere thought.
Julian walks over to Valerie.
JULIAN
I shall enjoy draining your energy,
even if I cannot get your power.
He reaches out his hand to her, but there is two almighty
bangs and Julians head now has a bullet directly through
it, as does his helpers. His eyes are motionless, staring in
fear. He falls to the floor, bursts into flames and becomes
nothing more than dust. His helper does the same thing.
VALERIE (VO)
The part about a bullet through the
brain or heart, that part was true.
Silver was just something made up
by the mainstream.
Julian had been killed before my
eyes. And yet why did it feel like
a hollow victory?
Andy runs over to Valerie.
ANDY
Are you alright?
VALERIE
I think so, wheres Darien?
ANDY
Hes over there, recovering from
what he just did.
VALERIE
He shot Julian?

ANDY
I dont know how, but he took my
gun from me. Before I could move,
he had pointed it at him and pulled
the trigger.
Valerie looks surprised.
VALERIE
But I thought he was under his
control?
DARIEN
As soon as you were blasted away
from Julian, I was free.
Valerie turns to Darien, who is still holding the gun in his
hand.
DARIEN
I had to lure him to where he was
most vulnerable, just before a
feed.
But there was a price to pay for
killing him that way, one I hope
you can forgive me for.
VALERIE
What do you mean?
DARIEN
Sams transformation would only be
complete after the first feed, and
because she didnt before her sire
was killed, she has became human.
VALERIE
So shes trapped in Reflectus
somewhere, is that what youre
saying? She cant get back?
DARIEN
Worse than that, I am afraid that
no human can survive in Reflectus
as it is now. She will probably
have been absorbed into the world.
Im sorry Val, but shes dead.
Valeries eyes flood with tears.

There is a brief short full of video clips. The first is
Valerie and Andy walking out of the building with Darien.
VALERIE (VO)
That night was probably the worst

cried for a long time, and Darien
stayed with us, unsure if he should
be there at all.
Next is Darien talking with Valerie outside the building.
VALERIE (VO)
I knew I probably should have been
furious at Darien, but he saved our
lives and in a way had saved Sam
from a fate she didnt deserve.
Next is Zach holding Valerie whilst Darien and Andy watch in
silence.
VALERIE (VO)
True to his word, Darien took me to
Zach and we shared our grief
together.
There is a picture of Sam next to a gravestone.

I believe that it was Richard Bach

He places a hand on her chest and she glows a lot brighter
than Valerie did. Her eyes open wide and for a second, red
