1706 0 Franklin was born in Boston on January 17.

1721 15 His brother began first newspaper.


1723 17 Franklin ran away to Philadelphia.
1729 23 He bought a newspaper, the Pennsylvania Gazette.
1731 25 He helped to launch the Library Company.
1733 27 He started publishing Poor Richards Almanack.
1736 30 He organized Philadelphias Union Fire Company.
1743 37 He helped to launch the American Philosophical Society.
1751 45 He founded the Pennsylvania Hospital.
1752 46 He founded the Philadelphia Contribution for Insurance Against Loss by
Fire.
1757 51 He went to England as a representative of the colony, and remained to 1775.
