1. Give one example of a learning competency objective in the affective domain for each of the levels in
the taxonomy of Kratwohl et. al. Assume that you are teaching an English literature subject.
TOPIC: World Literature (3
rd
year high school)
How do I love thee, by Elizabeth Browning

Learning Objectives in the Affective Domain:
How do I love thee is about a poem about its own poetic nature, a list and catalog of all the different ways of
loving that the speaker experiences.

1. Receiving: Gives positive reactions that interest the students as they listen to the poem

2. Responding: Discusses the theme of the poem and its relation to their personal life by writing a
composition, song or poem.

3. Valuing: Shares experiences on how the learner experienced love with his/her family, friends or loved
ones.

4. Organization: Adheres his/her own interpretation of love in an oral recitation

5. Characterization: Verifies his/her interpretation of love as he/she delve deeper through the context of
the text.

2. Describe the potential of tapping the affective domain in enhancing the learning of students.
The students will be able to understand and to delve deeper on the topic the teacher professes to discuss. The
students will be able to have a deeper understanding about its underlying meaning and its relationship in their
everyday lives. For example, the integration of the literary piece and the students daily experiences will hone
them as people with deep ponderings and to improve their well-being. Tapping the cognitive domain is not
enough, students learn best when it comes from the heart.
