Dear GIS Parents,

Please find the schedule for the GIS House Spirit Day on Thursday the 25
th
of
September. The House Spirit Day, like last year, should be a great day and provides us
with the opportunity to launch our House System for the year. This will be used
throughout the year in school and for special events such as Sports Day and our
Swimming Gala later in the year.

Why Houses?
On Thursday students will have the opportunity to come together and learn about
being part of a Team and how they can contribute to the success of their Team. The
House System runs from KG1 8, so all students will be assigned to a House and they
will remain in this house for the duration of their time at GIS. Siblings are in the same
house and we also encourage parents to support their houses, so on Thursday we have
built time in to the schedule for parents to come along and support. We have also
proposed a Parents vs Staff Football match at 3pm for any parents who are interested
in taking part to help build that community spirit at GIS.

What food will my child have?
Lunch will be as normal for the students, so if they normally bring a packed lunch they
should do this on Thursday, or if they have food from the canteen they will be able to
have this as normal. The difference will be that parents are able to join the students
at the time and location marked on the schedule and can enjoy a picnic style lunch
with the students. Please be mindful that as we have students with food allergies,
students should not share food on this day.

We will have Pinkberry, the frozen yoghurt company in attendance and they will be
set up in the canteen where students and parents will be able to purchase frozen
yoghurt from 11:30am onwards. The cost for a yoghurt will be from 15-25dhs.

What should my child wear?
Students who were at GIS last year, will be in the same color house. Students who
have joined this year will be notified of their Houses by their Homeroom Teachers on
Tuesday 23
rd
September. Students should wear sports clothes, trainers and a t-shirt or
top which is the color of their house. The House colors are Blue, Red, Green and
Yellow.

If you would like to take part in the Friendly Parent vs Staff football match at 3pm
then please confirm by emailing e.bryceland_gis@gemsedu.com.

Parents are welcome to attend anytime from 11am onwards and we hope to see as
many of you as possible.
