Lesson 10: Creating brochures

Estimated Time:
60 minutes

Lesson Objectives:
Use visual features for impact, including using placement on the page, choice of
colours and analytical images, e.g. figures, tables, diagrams, maps and graphs - WC6
(xii)
Analyse how analytical images e.g. symbols, tables, flowcharts, contribute to
understanding and interpretation of texts VR6 (viii)

Class Organisation:
Whole class teacher led, Individual

Resources:
Computers for students to work

Learning Experiences:
1. Explain to students that they will be creating brochures, using analytical images that
have been covered
2. Begin a demonstration brochure, where the teacher will guide the students (who are
also creating it) through the processes
3. Ensure that all features/questions are covered and that an effective brochure is
created with the students using analytical images
4. Tell the students that they will now create their own brochure (formative
assessment) on any professional soccer team, students begin brochures (give
assistance if needed)

Assessment:
Students will assessed on their brochures, the use of analytical images to help the
understanding of the text

Adjustments:
Students having difficulty can be placed together in a group and guided by the
teacher or assistant
Extension activity could be for students to create another brochure on any topic they
like
