Structure the Future

The Japan International Cooperation Agency has been assisting the

Philippines through various projects throughout the years. One project, that has
been ongoing fro February !"#$, is the Project for Supporting Senior %igh School
&o'elling in Selecte' (ocational Schools. This is 'ue to the ne)ly*ipleente' + to
#! syste. This syste o,ers vocational e'ucation in the last t)o years of
schooling, so in or'er to help )ith the in'ustrial labour force nee's of the country,
JICA gives their assistance. The ne) options that are o,ere' ight be ignore' by
the asses because of their abiguity. In or'er to help prevent this, people )ere
sent to convince the stu'ents to ta-e the vocational e'ucation option. &anageent
an' counication in this syste )ill also be given their attention. In a''ition to
this, JICA also 'onates buil'ings to schools in or'er to help iprove the .uality of
e'ucation.
One such 'onation is a buil'ing in a school capus in our counity. It is
use' for the library an' a laboratory. (arious research stu'ies, reference boo-s, an'
literary pieces are often containe' in the buil'ing for safe-eeping an' easy stu'ent
access. Though it is close to the noise of /ooing vehicles, the library o,ers a )ar
an' rela0ing environent for both easy rea'ing an' vigorous researching ali-e. The
laboratory, on the other han', gives us a place )here )e can con'uct our various
e0perients in a controlle' environent, getting us precise an' accurate results in
just a nic- of tie.
The library gets ne) research stu'ies every year so as a result1 ne) research
stu'ies )ill al)ays be available for the research nee's of the stu'ents )ho use the
facilities. There are also perio'icals that are up'ate' every no) an' then. This
-eeps the ore 2nancially*challenge' stu'ents up'ate' )ith ne)s all over the
)orl' since the perio'icals are of international an' local origin. There is also a great
collection of literary )or-s fro the Spaniar' age to present*'ay )or-s. Faous
authors li-e Sha-espeare for tea International an' Francisco 3alagtas for tea
4ocal. 5ith great access to such articulate pieces, if stu'ents )oul' only rea' ore,
their vocabulary )oul' have such a )i'e range fro all the coplicate' )or's that
the te0ts use. There is even a goo' collection of ovies in there, as )ell as a
television )ith a 6(6 player.
The laboratory also contains research stu'ies since the usually seale' an'
favourable con'itions of the roo help further preserve the various research stu'ies
that are -ept there. The roo )as also ostly use' for e0perients an' activities
by stu'ents. It is air*con'itione' up until no) a-ing the environent cofortable
for the people )ho use it.
All these projects )ill help our country. The project for vocational e'ucation
)ill help all the people )ho are uneploye'1 they coul' )or- an' earn a 'ecent
living )ithout going to college. 5ith the a0iu of 789 of the labour force of the
country being use', )e are har'ly )or-ing to our full potential. A big reason for this
is the lac- of e'ucation aong the ore 2nancially challenge'. The various
buil'ings that have been 'onate' by JICA )ill help the schooling of the people )ho
cannot su:ciently a,or' a goo' e'ucation. If )e )ere to all )or- together in or'er
to have each able person have an e'ucation, the Philippines )oul' becoe a better
place. JICA has just helpe' us ta-e that goal one step closer.
