Studying the Information Systems of Maruti Suzuki India Limited
Maruti Suzuki India Limited is one of Indias leading car manufacturer. It was first
established in 1981, the company is now a fully-fledged subsidiary of the Suzuki Motor
Corporation. In the year 2002, Maruti added finance, insurance, and pre-owned car
businesses to its portfolio. Maruti thus increased the scale of its operations and therefore
reviewed its processes and systems.
Before the adoption of Oracle system, the company had faced many problems like:
Human Dependence
Lack of control over the processes
Poor information quality
Huge Turn-around time
No real-time access to information
To overcome these problems, Maruti engaged Oracle Consulting to install a number of
Oracle E-Business Suite modules and integrate them with the existing systems of Maruti.
From this project, we will familiarize ourselves that how the integration and standardization
helped the company to achieve better control of its finance, procurement, and the functions of
human resources. We will analyse how Maruti Suzuki used these systems and how it
managed to rapidly expand its business using these systems.
We will use the secondary sources for our research and will study the Information Systems of
Maruti and the current problems faced by their systems. After identifying the problems, we
will give the recommendations based on our research.
