1. Within whole group setting revisit graphic
organisers from previous lesson
2. Teacher to facilitate group discussion on
non-fiction books and structures
3. Revisit focus text The Voyage of The
Endeavour
4. Teacher to open to page 4 of text
5. Teacher to read page five of text to class as
a whole
6. Class to be supplied with copy of different
pages of given text, and teacher to allocate
groups with given pages, along with text
worksheet (SEE RESOURCE 2)
7. Teacher to give following instructions with
prompting questions:
How are the two pages structured?
What picture can you see?
How is the text written?
Is there any structure within the text?
What is seen on given page?
8. After 40minutes, bring class together back
to group setting
9. Allow for members to share findings, and
with teacher direction add to graphic organiser
