International standard for

Testing and Calibration

laboratories
The ISO 17025 standard is same as that
of the ISO 9000 standard. Both the
standard focuses on the calibration,
testing and measurement procedures
performed in the laboratories.

With the growing demand of quality and
accuracy in the laboratory there shown a
significant rise in the number of
accredited laboratories.
Testing and calibration laboratories complying
with the procedural requirement for the
attainment of the internal standard will
enhance the quality standard of the
laboratory.

The ISO 9000 alone doesn't not complies
with the competence of the laboratory with
the testing standard in contrast ISO 17025
standard is the only international standard
that is accepted globally by all laboratories
across the globe.
The ISO 17025 standard has replaced
many of the previous standard such
as ISO/IEC Guide 25, EN45001 and
ANSI/NCSL-Z540.

NABL is the authorized body that provide
ISO certification to laboratories. The only
ISO 17025 certificate India based
certifying body is NABL.
The standard is confined to three of the basic
aims including:

Analyze uncertainty in the measurement
process

Provide the uncertainties with the calibration
certificate and results

Incorporate the uncertainty into the test
procedure and/or test limits.
