Built to stand the test of time, 400 Series gets you
more air than most 5 HP & 7.5 HP compressors, and
get you a small business price point for more value. 400 Series delivers the same durability and performance as our legendary ERC Series, but without an aftercooler and moisture separator. Optional 90 gallon air tank (not 60 or 80) offers more air storage and less run time. Enjoy compact size, quiet operation, long-life and low maintenance.
Get your last air compressor first. Get a Mattei!
UNCONVENTIONALLY RELIABLE, Matteis advancements in technology and materials offers our customers the best value in premium quality air compressors found anywhere on the planet. Our unconventional bearingless air-ends last up to 100,000 hours and are warranted for a full 10 years as they last up to 2-3 times longer than conventional rotary screw type machines. Super quiet operation, less lubricant, and energy-stingy designs save you more.
400 Series Air Compressors Economical Industrial Design Get More Air. Get More Value. SIMPLY SUPERIOR Mattei compressors are designed to give constant top performance 24 hours a day, every day of the year. It is not unusual to experience an operating life of over 100,000 hours. Our optional 90 gallon tanks give you more than 10% extra energy saving air storage than common 80 gallon tanks.
Rely on Mattei air compressors for: No wear of the compressors moving mechanical parts Low oil volume and consumption Pulse-free air Compact design Direct coupled compressor & motor Slow 1,800 RPM rotational speed Low maintenance Quiet operation
A quality air compressor must guarantee an environmentally friendly operation. The compressor, which is an integral part of the machine, must thus produce clean air. Mattei compressors have an exclusive and efficient oil separating system which occurs in three stages: in the initial stage most of the oil is separated in a labyrinth in the compression chamber; the flow then enters the separator chamber where a mechanical separation takes place through speed reduction and flow deviation; the last phase occurs through the separator element. Only 0.02% of the initial oil arrives to this final stage; this is the reason for which the average life of Matteis separator element is 10,000 operating hours. Most importantly, this separating system guarantees a maximum oil residue of 3 ppm in Matteis compressed air. Function & Performance How it Works Ambient air is drawn through a filter into the compression chamber consisting of a stator in which an eccentrically arranged rotor revolves at 1,800 rpm. A pressure switch starts and stops the motor or, it runs continuously as modulation control adapts the output to your actual air demands. The rotor has longitudinal slots in which the vanes slide. Zero-wear vanes ride on a thin film of oil and are held against the stator by centrifugal force. The air is compressed through the contraction in volume of each chamber formed by the vanes, the rotor and the stator wall. Sealing, cooling and lubrication are ensured by the oil injected into the chamber.
