Dear KG1 Parents,
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. The end of last week was an en exciting few days. We would
like to thank all the parents who came out for Hopes and Dreams Day. We really enjoyed finding out
more about your children and how we can help them through-out this year. Thursday was also a day full
of excitement with this years first spirit day taking place. It was a new experience for most of the Kg1s
to interact with students in various grades through the school and bug day for developing a whole
school community.
Just a reminder that next week is a holiday week for Eid Al Adha. There will be no school for the week of
October 5

. School will resume on Sunday October 12

Since Thursday was declared a Day 0 for Spirit Day, the monthly Calendar for September did change. The
days for this week are as follows:

Our Unit of Inquiry
This week we will continue our discussion into our first line of inquiry: Human Relationships.
We explore further our families and look a little more at our extended families such as grandparents,
aunts, uncles and cousins. We will also begin to explore other relationships in our lives such as friends.
We will look at identify friends in our lives and the different places we make friends.
Language
In language we will be learning the letter sound t We will be learning how to form the letter, the
sound it makes and lots of different words that begin with that letter.
Suggested T words to practice the sound: tennis, tiger, top, tree, triangle,
Mathematics
During our math lessons we will continue to practice counting up to 10 and working on one to one
correspondence. We will also concentrate on writing our numbers to 10 with proper formation.
Suggested ideas for home: practice identify numbers around the house (numbers on the clock,
house/apartment number, etc)
We will continue to work on the skills of sorting objects by 1 attribute (size, color, shape)
