GROWTH PATTERNS Choice Board

During the next 2 weeks, students should choose 1 activity from the choice board below to do each day. It
is ok to repeat activities. Some choices have 2 options to do. You may do just 1 each day. Math homework
should only be for 15 minutes each day.

How is it growing?

Look at the growth pattern. Explain
to someone what is growing, by
how much, and what the rule
(pattern stem) is.
Copy the growth pattern on a piece
of paper. Extend the pattern 3
more times.
Translate (describe) the pattern
into a number pattern.

Create a Growth Pattern

On paper, create 3 different growth
patterns. Explain to someone how
your patterns are growing. What is
the rule (pattern stem) each
pattern is following?
Translate (describe) the patterns
into number patterns.

Skip Counting
Skip count to an adult by:
1s
2s
5s
10s
Start skip counting from different
numbers.
For example:
Skip count by 2s starting from 7
7, 9, 11, 13, 15

Extend a Number Pattern

Look at the number patterns on the
Number Pattern sheet. How are the
numbers changing? Extend the
number patterns.
For example:
1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11

I notice the numbers are getting
bigger. 1 and 2 more is 3. 3 and 2
more is 5. The numbers are increasing
by 2.

*Use Number Pattern Sheet
attached.
