Is life more risky for boys?

Well as we can infer from this data, is that women tend to live for a
longer period of time than men. As we know men are stronger, taller,
faster and less likely to be overweight. But none of these attributes
seem to matter among their life expectancy. In all developed countries
and most undeveloped ones, women live more time than men,
sometimes by as much as 10 years. In the United States, life expectancy
at birth is about 79 years for women and about 72 years for men.
Between 15 and 24 years, for example, their life expectancy reduces as
they are just entering puberty. During this period, men are three times
more likely to die than women, and its caused by inappropriate
behaviour or violence. Motor vehicle accidents are the most common
cause of death for males in this age group. Illnesses related to smoking
and alcohol also kill more men than women in the age group 40 and

above. But heart disease is the main cause death. Another reason
for the difference in life expectancy in these two genders is their sex
hormones, male have testosterone hormone and the female have
estrogen hormone. Later in life, testosterone puts men at risk
biologically as well as behaviourally. It increases blood levels of the
bad cholesterol and decreases levels of the good one, putting men at
greater risk of heart disease and stroke.
