P: Which soap operas do you enjoy watching the most and why?
M: I dont really watch them any more !ut I used to watch "ollyoa#s e$ery
night% I watch the occasional episode o& 'orrie when theres something
dramatic happening !ut i& I had to choose I would say "ollyoa#s(
P: With which character do you most strongly identi&y yoursel& with and why?
M: Im not sure whether she is still in "ollyoa#s !ut Moira who was in it when I
watched it% she was a caring mother who had &air too much hassle &rom her
#ids )laughs*
P: +o you &eel that soap operas represent your age group and ethnicity in a
&air and accurate way?
M: My particular age group and ethnicity yes% I mean most soap operas are
trying to con$ey realistic adulthood so certainly
P: In what ways do you &eel soap operas represent society?
M: I &eel they represent mainly the wor#ing class, middle class and its not
always in a &air way% I mean the drama in soaps $ery rarely happens and its
usually negati$e things li#e cheating% -ghts or what ha$e you
P: 'ompared to other ./ programmes such as sitcoms and ./ series% how
highly do you rate soap operas?
M: Its hard to say% the reason I dont watch soaps is !ecause its a commitment
and I dont really ha$e the time% I wish I did% at the moment though Im into
crime dramas and 0uther especially
