Chapter 9: Strategy Worksheet
Strategy Name: Journal Writing Strategy #9
Brief Description (in your own words):
Journal writing is a place to record thoughts and reactions about experiences in order to clarify
and self-assess progress. Journal writing has little structure and allows for the individual to
freely express their thoughts and goals on paper.
How you plan to use this strategy in your practicum, internship, student teaching, or in your
classroom:
I plan to use this strategy in my internship and student teaching. I will encourage all of my students to
log journal entries after each class to document progress. Periodically through the semester I will check
with my students to assure that they are completing the journal entries. Journal entries can be
particularly useful for logging fitness goals and the process in which these goals were achieved.
